An Introverted Actress

Welcome to 2019!

Welcome to 2019!

Last year was unexpectedly exceptional. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I genuinely thought it was going to be a quiet one. December 31st 2017, I was twiddling my thumbs wondering whether something would come up and what I was going to do if nothing did. Whilst, at the time, I felt like I needed to pull on the reigns a little anyway, I was honestly quite scared that 2018 wouldn’t only be quiet but a massive snooze fest! As someone who is bored incredibly easily, I’m very happy to say that I was wrong and it turned out to be one of the best and busiest years of my life. I’m not going to recap my year here, I’ve done that everywhere else so if you fancy having a little look, there’s a One Second Every Day video on my channel!  (Alright, I didn’t quite manage one second every day but there’s plenty there to see!)

2019 has a few more promises in its midst. Annoyingly, for both you and I, it’s nothing I can talk about right now and nothing I would want to talk about until it’s firmly set in stone. Currently there are too many balls in the air and there’s still that scary chance that none of them will land. That’s the thrilling/terrifying life of an actor (more on that topic in a blog to come…!).

I absolutely love New Years though. I love the excitement that fizzles through the air as it hits eleven o’clock. AN HOUR TO GO! Everyone natters. Then it’s all about keeping close to your friends and your loved ones until the big moment arrives. God forbid you miss it because you went for a wee or your were stuck at the bar trying to get a drink. I always get this emotional overload when the countdown starts. Suddenly, I feel like everyone’s united and we’re all falling into the abyss of next year together, completely unaware of what’s to come. Of course, that’s any day really. We all go to bed and wake up not knowing what the universe might throw at us tomorrow but there’s something about that moment on New Year’s Eve when the big hand pushes past the twelve and it becomes New Year’s Day. Everyone becomes a happy, singing, cheering, united front. (Of course, last year I drank a little too much and ended up naked in my friend’s bath tub in the middle of a party whilst all of my friends sat around me eating chocolate…long story. Well, it’s not, it’s just unusual and definitely for another blog post….).

Whilst I’ve made my love of New Year’s abundantly clear, I’ve not made any real resolutions for 2019. I never really do, to be honest. I’ve got staple classics like “I want to write more blogs” and “I want to make more videos” and “I want to take more pictures” and “I must learn to slow down and take better care of myself”. However, I feel like they will be lifelong resolutions that I will always be working on and pushing to achieve every day, not just as a new year looms. They’re resolutions that will never get old and have no expiry date because I will always want to improve on them. Time, however, will always be my enemy, I feel. “There are never enough hours in the day” is something I should write on a sign that I wear around my neck because it’s something I feel and fear all the time. I am getting better at managing my time though and hilariously, I am actually, definitely better at saying no and turning things down. Even though it may not seem like it from an outside perspective. Admittedly, I could still be better at it but where I’m at now is a huge improvement on Carrie a year ago who literally said yes to everything and then drowned under the commitment within minutes.

I’ve just moved house too but I feel talk of the house should be saved for a different blog or video where I can speak about it more in depth instead of it being a passing mention in another. But just know, I love it and I’m thrilled.

I kept saying it towards the end of last year but I’ve just got this gut feeling that 2019 is going to be a good one all round, for everyone. For me, personally though, it’s currently promising and exciting and could be pretty awesome if all works out. If it doesn’t, all is never lost…but I’m holding out hope all the same!
